Audubon Society of Forsyth County - Feb. Activities



Hello, Carolinabirders!  Here's a listing of activities sponsored by the
Audubon Society of Forsyth County in February:

February 8, 2003:  2nd Saturday Birdwalk at Washington Park in
Winston-Salem, NC.  Meet at 9:00 a.m. in the paved parking area down
from the Broad Street entrance to the park.  Last February we found a
nesting Great Horned Owl - will we be so lucky this time?  Bring
spotting scopes!

February 15, 2003:  Greensboro Lakes Trip (rescheduled from January):
Meet at Thruway near the Wachovia at 8:00 a.m. or Triad Park at 8:30
a.m.  Carpooling encouraged.  Will join Piedmont Bird Club at Lake
Higgins in Greensboro at 9:00 a.m. for a day of checking out species of
wintering waterfowl in Guilford County.  Bring bag lunch and dress
warmly.  Spotting scopes most helpful.

February 14 – 17 :  Great Backyard Bird Count.  Joint Project of Audubon
and Cornell Lab of Ornithology.   Anyone can participate.   Count birds
in your own backyard and contribute data which can be used by scientists
to analyze bird population trends.   Corporate sponsor is Wild Birds

February 25, 2003:   Chapter Meeting at SciWorks.  Refreshments and
socializing at 7:00 p.m., meeting begins at 7:30 p.m.   Bill Abbey, the
Forsyth County Coordinator for the North Carolina Bluebird Society ,
will speak.  His program will answer your questions about feeding and
providing nestboxes for bluebirds.  A short video will be presented and
nestboxes and feeders will be on display.
