Razorbills and Dovekie at Atlantic Beach-Fort Macon, NC

This morning, Bob Holmes, Jack Fennell, and I did some ocean-watching
from Triple Ess Pier, the bathhouse at Fort Macon, and over the inlet at
the fort.

We saw at least 70 Razorbills during the morning. Most of these were
fly-bys, headed up the coast, but we also saw numerous birds on the
water. One bird on the water at Triple Ess Pier was only about 200'
from us, so we got super looks. We also had about 10 Razorbills on the
water in Beaufort Inlet. Many of the feeding Razorbills were being
attended by Bonaparte's Gulls.

About 10am, we also had a Dovekie fly by, going west to east, at the
Fort Macon bathhouse.

Also had large numbers of Bonaparte's Gulls, but couldn't spot a Little.
Numerous flocks of northbound scoters--these were virtually all Black
Scoters, although we did pick out one drake Surf Scoter.
