Highway birds

Good morning all,

For anyone who travels Rt. 40 often, there are a pair of Red Tailed hawks I
see all the time at exit 178. They're easier to see if you're heading east.
As you approach the exit look to your right. To the right of the off ramp
is a tall powerline tower, to the right of that some tall trees where the
hawks are often perched or soaring above. As you go over the bridge at the
exit look up to your left and I'm sure you'll see pigeons perched on the
wires. I bet these pigeons and the hawks know each other well.

Yesterday when heading north on Rt. 147 I went under the bridge at exit 7
and a small hawk soared super fast and low to the ground right in front of
me. I looked in my mirror and saw a burst of pigeons taking flight from
under the bridge, it looked like a swarm of bees leaving the hive.
Obviously the hawks and pigeons there definitely know each other well.

Beautiful songs this time of year, pairs singing back and forth everywhere.
Yesterday a Hermit Thrush welcoming the morning again, he's been around for
a few days now. This morning I heard a Vireo for the first time of the
year, I couldn't tell for sure which one though. Guess the spring ears are
a bit rusty after winter.
