A friend from Adams Run in southern Charleston county reported that she had
a Gray Kingbird in her yard about 10:30 am today. Yesterday in the late
afternoon she watched a Bald Eagle and a Peregrine riding the northeasterly
winds from the hurricane as they made their way south.
The Columbia Audubon Society field trip to the Super Sod Farms in Orangeburg
county today turned up 6-7 American Golden-plovers, many many Pectorals in a
variety of plumages, 2 Western Sandpipers, a Semi-palmated Sandpiper, a
couple of Upland Sandpipers, Horned Larks, Northern Harrier, Bank Swallows
and an assortment of residents, including Bluebirds and Redtails. We also
got good looks at the outer cloud bands of Hurricane Dennis as well as a bit
of the wind.
Good Birding!
