Van Atkins, Giff Beaton and I went to the sod farm near Orangeburg this morning - arrived about 9:30. Nothing spectacular. It was mostly dry there and I was suprised by how many roads are no longer passable or are blocked off. Sightings as follows:
E. Meadowlark 6
Horned Lark 3
Pectoral Sandpiper 100+
Killdeer 200 - est.
G. Golden Plover 1
C. Snipe 2
Upland Sandpiper 3
G. Yellowlegs 1
N. Harrier 2
A. Crow 10+
E. Starling Lots
Tree Swallow 50+
Barn Swallow 25+
L. Shrike 2
E. Kingbird 5
Blue Grosbeak 1
Most of the birds had disappeared by about 11:00 and there was heavy activity by workers in the fields.
