Yesterday afternoon at around 6PM, I birded the turf farm in Scotland
Neck, NC, with my family. Birds seen were:
Killdeer >100
Semipalmated Plover 1
Mourning Dove 50
peep (Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers) 20
White-rumped Sandpiper 1
Pectoral Sandpiper 30
Lesser Yellowlegs 50
Golden Plover 1 (still in partial breeding plumage)
Buff-breasted Sandpiper 1
Northern Phalarope 1
Black Tern 1 (flew in, circled once, and left)
dowitcher 1
Mallard 1
The double digit numbers are conservative. When it was almost dark a
bird flew in that I thought was a Black-bellied Plover, but there was
disagreement on whether that was true or that the bird was just the Golden
Plover we had seen earlier.
