Strange as it seems, a Warbling Vireo was singing this morning over the
older portion of the boardwalk at Beaver Lake Bird Sanctuary in Asheville.
Got a good look at it as it foraged in willows at the pond. A half-dozen
Magnolia Warblers were the other highlight. Later on Hooper Lane, east of
Asheville's airport, I ran into Wayne Forsythe and we saw a Buff-breasted
Sandpiper, a Pectoral, and six or eight American Golden Plovers in various
gradations of plumage. A Northern Harrier and two kestrels showed up, too.
