Straggling home to Asheville from Charleston via north Florida, Esther and
I stopped by Lake Wallace at Bennettsville, SC, Tuesday morning. The
Western Grebe was still there, and still in breeding plumage. We saw
nothing resembling a Red-necked Phalarope in the hour or so we stopped at
the lake. Did get an adult Bald Eagle flying over, though.
Since I unsubscribed to Carolinabirds last week before heading to
Charleston, don't know when the phalarope was last observed.
