Today at the Mt. Pisgah Hawk Watch...9/29/99

Today...it was raining. Despite the tragic flooding in the eastern
parts of the state, this was the first significant rain we've received
here in the mountains in many weeks, so we are all grateful.

In case anyone is interested, I'll definitely be at the hawk watch
overlook (mp 404.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway) this Friday afternoon and
Saturday morning. After the passage of this low pressure front, the
conditions should be ideal on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and I expect
the last big rush of Broad-wings (and the last best chance for Bald
Eagles) to occur on these days. The numbers of accipiters should also
be increasing.

	Cheers!
