Couldn't decide between fishing or birding today, ended up choosing the
birds.
At Oregon Inlet CG, one Peregrine Falcon, 3 Sharp-Shinned Hawks (juveniles).
Also, lots of Palm Warblers.
At Pea Island North Pond, the first wave of ducks were present, Gadwalls,
Black, Pintails, American Widegeon's as far as the eye could see.
Overhead, 3 Sharp-Shinned, 1 unid buteo. In the 'tunnel at the Boardwalk, 1
male N. Parula.
South to Ocracoke Island..the boardwalk at the horse stables was full of
Palm Warblers, I'd say close to 100. Also, 2 female Redstarts, 1 Ovenbird,
and close to a dozen Sharp-Shinned, including two perched in nearby trees.
One Perigrine. There were probably another 15 acipitors assumed to be
Sharpies, but not positive. A couple of Merlins and even more acipitors
noted around 4PM as we headed back to the ferry, but no time to count them
all. There was quite a bit of acipitor activity between Avon and Salvo
around 5PM as we headed north.
