An American Tree Sparrow was located near the restrooms at Pea Island Visitor
Center at Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge on Sunday, November 7, 1999.
This bird was seen in addition to another American Tree Sparrow seen on South
Pond of Pea Island on the refuge. Since South Pond is now closed again,
birders can look for the American Tree Sparrow at the Visitor Center. Jeff
Lewis and I located the bird at 5:00pm in the grassy area between the
restrooms and North Pond foraging with White-throated Sparrows. It is a
beautiful bird.
