On Fri the 12th, Barb and I birded the S.C. Fish Hatchery west of Walhalla.
We had 3 Red-breasted Nuthatches in the evergreens just outside the fence on
the boardwalk side. On the boardwalk we had a Winter Wren being harassed by
a Carolina Wren, and we had a flyover of 8 Red Crossbills in the fenced area
where the trout tanks are located. On the road to Burrells Ford we had 2
Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Juncos, and a Hermit Thrush.
Yesterday, the 13th we had a large flock of Cedar Waxwings, a Hermit
Thrush, and many White-throated Sparrows on Gaines Road at Beaverdam WMA
near Townville,S.C.
Today we had a Brown Creeper in the yard at home.
No Siskens or Purple Finch yet for us.
