RE: Anyone seen waxwings in the Piedmont yet?

I first spotted (actually, heard first) C. Waxwings here (on Lake Norman,
NC) this season on October 24, whence I spied them eating Juniper "berries"
in neighboring trees. Since then, their appearance has been a daily
occurrence.

I have lived in Western NC for around 48 years, with a few forays into the
Southeast, and am used to seeing Cedar Waxwings more toward the Spring here
in WNC. A few are seen in Winter, but the big flocks are seen during apple
bloom.
