Folks:
It's been a while, but I finally have something to report. This PM
I received a call from Dick Blee, who is from Brevard, reporting 2 Surf
Scoters and several Red-breasted Mergansers on Lake Julian in Buncombe
County. Since I needed it for a year bird, I ran right up to Lake Julian.
After checking several areas of the lake, I was finally able to locate the
Scoters, but didn't find the Mergs. Thank you Dick! The Scoters were my
212 species of the year for the mountains (above 2000 feet). Ron Selvey
called to report that he had about 130 Ring-necked Ducks on a pond at
Crooked Creek golf course in Henderson County. Waterfowl have been almost
non-existent so far this fall and winter, maybe things are about to change!
Regards,
Wayne
