Dwayne, Lori and others,
The first state record Calliope that the Sargents banded yesterday was at
the home of the Webbs (Charles and Judy) in Greer, S.C. These folks are
happy to have birders come by to view the hummer *IF THEY CALL IN ADVANCE*.
Their phone number is (864) 879-1133. I suspect they will be having
numerous visiors this weekend, if they are at home.
The hummer is a first year male with several rosey gorget feathers. He
returned to the feeder soon after banding and was still around in the
afternoon. It has not been at the feeder more than a few days, apparently.
Unfortunately, due to my schedule this week, I will not have a chance to
plan a vist myself. Tomorrow I am off to band three hummingbirds in
Charlotte. I will keep you posted--
