This morning, in preparation for the Cumberland County CBC on Sunday, I
walked the area that I will be covering. On one of the ponds I found a
flock of hooded mergansers. When I attempted to get closer to take a
better look, they flushed. Ducks in the adjacent pond flushed before I
could even get a look. On the Methodist College golf course, I saw the
resident red-tailed hawk and most of the usual critters.
While working around the house, I spotted a female or first winter
Baltimore oriole visiting my feeders. I've also had goldfinches and a pine
warbler visiting periodically today.
