For anyone who might live in the area I recently discovered a very
viewable pileated roosthole right off BolinCreek Greenway (Chapel Hill) near
the Elizabeth St. Apts. Male pileated flies in about 4:45pm each evening
after foraging in area for awhile (don't know what time he departs in
morning).
If any other pileated addicts or anyone wanting a photo opportunity wishes
a look-see let me know and I can show or direct you to it.
For those who've asked about the UNC owls, no they're not nesting yet;
probably a month or so away (and another couple of months after that before
babies appear), but they are easily visible most every day.
