Dickcissel

We had some birders over this morning to add the Dickcissel to there life list. Before they arrived I had to chase a Red-shouldered Hawk out of a tree in the yard. After we were successful with the Dickcissel, one of the ladies said, what's that? I looked where she was pointing and there sat a Sharp-shinned decorated with a band on his right leg!  He was on the ground and had just landed. All the birds had just left in a hurry, and we knew there was something around. The Hawk sprang into action and slammed headfirst into a large Gardenia bush where the Sparrows usually hide. The hawk came out the other side of the bush so I didn't see if he got a bird. We worried that it could have got the Dickcissel. After a short while the birds returned and there
 was our bird.
