Myrtle Beach S.P. on 3-29

Hi Carolinabirders,
Gary Phillips and I birded at Myrtle Beach S.P. this morning for about an
hour and a half. 28 species. We briefly spoke to Phil & Sharon Turner and
they identified a number of birds that we did not have. We then went to the
formation meeting for the initial group that will be censusing shorebirds
at high tide at the jetty pond area. It looks like we will have a working
group of at least six or seven good birders able to census the birds on the
fifth, fifteenth and twenty-fifth of each month. Here goes for Myrtle Beach
S.P.

Blue-winged Teal-6
Mallard-2
Turkey Vulture-1
Buteo sp.-Jack leaned to Red-shouldered
Ring-billed Gull-1
Mourning Dove-2
Red-bellied Woodpecker-3
Downy Woodpecker-1
Tree Swallow-6
Blue Jay-20
Carolina Chickadee-5
Tufted Titmouse-6
Brown-headed Nuthatch-2
Carolina Wren-2
Ruby-crowned Kinglet-1
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher-15
Gray Catbird-2
Brown Thrasher-2
White-eyed Vireo-1
N. Parula-1
Yellow-throated Warbler-2
Pine Warbler-1
Prairie Warbler-2
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH-1 heard singing part of the song and then responded
vigorously with the full song. Difficult to locate because of the
ventriloquil aspects of the bird's song. But the bird was finally located
singing from a low branch in the shade. Photos were taken. It did have a
nice clean white chin and throat and a supercilium which widened behind the
eye.
N. Cardinal-8
White-throated Sparrow-3
Am. Goldfinch-1
