Columbia area spring counts

Hi CarolinaBirders,

The Columbia Audubon Society will conduct spring counts (both Carolina Bird
Club counts and North American Migration Counts) this spring. For more
info, contact me (rcarter@sc.rr.com) or check out Columbia Audubon's web
site at
www.conterra.com/dsbailey/audubon.

Saturday, 29 April --- Lower Saluda River Spring Count. This is a new
count, scheduled near the height of the spring migration in Columbia, and
covering many of our best local migrant spots, including the Lake Murray
Dam, Saluda Shoals Park, Harbison State Forest, Granby Park, and the
University of South Carolina Horseshoe. Area leaders have already been
found, so contact me for more info if you want to help in a particular area,
or just show up at Saluda Shoals Park at 7:00 AM, where we will hopefully
have a great morning and even find a Painted Bunting or two. No fee. (We
will try to arrange free admission to Saluda Shoals Park).

Saturday, 13 May -- Congaree Swamp Spring Count (for C.B.C.); also NAMC for
Lexington, Richland, and Calhoun Counties; also International Migratory Bird
Day activities at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia. Something for everybody! No
fee for the counts; the zoo charges, of course.
