In the case of the abandoned chickadees, I would suspect a Sharp Shinned
hawk, feeding its own kids. I think chickadees feed their babies insects
and other high protein food, so it is unlikely they would have a problem
with the feeder. However, feeders are excellent hawk magnets, due to the
concentration of song birds.....
