Vermilion Flycatcher Photos from 10 foot away!

Folks,

Today while watching the Vermilion Flycatcher Josh Rose, Larry Lynch and I
took some photos of the flycatcher on the top barbwire of the fence. The
light was great with a carolina blue sky background, couldn`t be beat. We
all only had a few frames of film in our cameras and I went back to my
truck and got another roll. Larry graciously loaned me his 2X L
teleconverter for my 100-400 IS L zoom lenses making it a 800 mm L lens!
Amazingly the flycatcher allowed me to approach cautiously and get with in
10 foot of it to get some pretty nice photos. I suspect it got used to us
when we all were photographing it. To see the 4 photos go to my website and
click on the birds link then the Vermilion Flycatcher link.

Afterward we hit the Sewer Plant, lost Josh and Frank and missed the
grebes and the Fulvous Whistling Ducks. We did get great looks at
a Loggerhead Shrike at the gate to the no trespassing impoundment at the
treatment plant. I also saw another shrike along a fence along 581 between
Cherry Hospital and O`Berry Center, I returned hoping for a photos but
didn`t find it again.

I`ll be having made a few 8 x 10 prints made of these and will send Eric
one for all his help on the Vermilion Flycatcher, Eric let me know which
photo you like? Thanks again Eric!

Also found some butterflies, a Clouded Sulphur, 2 Orange Sulphurs and a
American Lady.
