Goldsboro waste treatment plant

This morning I made the trip from Fayetteville to Goldsboro,
hoping to see something new. While I was there a birder from Raleigh
came along and then, a little later, the Martins from Hickory. We
all saw the cinnamon teal and the fulvous whistling duck. Lori
spotted the fulvous duck first. It was in the large pond across the
highway from the plant. The cinnamon teal was in the pond behind the
treatment complex, so Lori's efforts to get us inside paid off
handsomely. The third new bird for me was an American pipit. There
were at least 14 species of ducks on the ponds, assuming that we
didn't miss any. The identifiable shorebirds included common snipe,
kildeer, and a least sandpiper.
