ADMIN: Warning to AOL users

Warning to AOL users: you might not want to "upgrade" to version 6.0 of
the AOL software. There is a bug in the software that forces you to send
messages in html format -- this is not acceptable on Carolinabirds,
Birdchat, or most other e-mail groups or newsgroups. So people who use
the AOL 6.0 e-mail program will not be able to subscribe, unsubscribe,
post messages, or do anything else on Carolinabirds.

The "Customer Care" folks at AOL offer the following solution: Use AOL
Mail on the Web (at http://www.aol.com) to send mail to Internet
addresses that don't allow formatting - AOL Mail on the Web sends mail as
plain text only. Another solution that may or may not work, but hasn't
been tested: "When authoring mail in AOL 6.0 remove all formatting from
the message body and send the message in the AOL 6.0 default of Arial,
size 10 - do not include any bold/italics/underline, colors, or other
styles."

Other possible solutions: use a different e-mail program (don't know if
AOL allows this), use a free web mail account (such as hotmail, etc.), or
switch to a different ISP (there are many options).
