Subject: brown pelicans
5 brown pelicans seen flying over the lakes by the lake (retention
ponds) on the entrance to RDU airport from I540 at 9:30am this morning (11
December, 2000).
I don't think I'm crazy... but has anyone else seen brown pelicans there?
I'm sure they were pelicans, not extra-large geese or Great Blue Herons with
no legs out the back. I just about ran off the road gawking. Maybe they
were looking for Terminal C to get a Midway flight to Disney World... Would
make a good sighting for Christmas count...
In a more likely scenario, we have one male and one female Purple Finch
coming daily to our feeder (southwest Orange County).
