C'Birders:
Yes, 26 degrees, and our hummers are indeed humming away.
The Black-chinned had some more 'foreign birders', from Raleigh this time,
who saw it.
But I must tell you about the OTHER HUMMER, which is X from now on.. I went
down to McCormicks after 12 and there's the Uncatchable One (happily?) being
chased by Mr. Tea. I spent all morning looking for it at my feeders. It
only occurred to me later that my feeders being little might have had frozen
nectar. I came home, went out on the dock to look for that rascal Toast,
and a hummer came along the shore through the shrubs, buzzed me in my
red-fringed scarf and zoomed off. I saw it's all white throat, so I knew X
was back. It proceeded to spend the rest of the afternoon sipping at the
feeder which it had refused to go to in the cage yesterday.
No Toast today. Where does it go ???
Mary McDavit, Sunset Lakes, etc.
