Jan 1, Samworth Sparrow Supercenter

Has anyone ever seen all the possible sparrows in one day? I only missed
the 3 coastal marsh sparrows.

The wet fields along the entrance road to Samworth Game Management Area in
Georgetown Co, SC (thanks to Lex Glover for the inspiration to check it out)
yielded an incredible sparrow list for my first day of the year.
Unfortunately, NO Yellow Rails for several hours' effort in some of the most
treacherous walking conditions possible on a horizontal landscape. A King
Rail flushed immediately upon my stepping into the grass.

Savannah Sparrow - abundant, 75-100
Song Sparrow - almost as many
Swamp Sparrow - ditto
White-throated Sparrow - dozens
White-crowned Sparrow - 2 im
LeConte's Sparrow - 4+, one excellent close-up perching view
Grasshopper Sparrow 2-3, great perching views
Henslow's Sparrow 1, flushed into edge of woods where I walked right up to
it
Vesper Sparrow 1 - easy roadside bird, tame
Lincoln's Sparrow 1 - the real surprise to me, showed well for 30 seconds

All these were at the Samworth location, then on the way home, I picked up
Fox Sparrow and Chipping Sparrow for a clean sweep of SC non-coastal
sparrows. Towhees were seen as well, but no juncos all day.
