Hi Everyone,
White-crowned Sparrows are in excellent numbers at the North end of Coddle
Creek Reservoir (northeast of Charlotte). Take the gravel road Shimpock
Road to the point in the fence line opposite the 3 large farm silos. I had
a large flock there on Sunday and Tomm Lorenzo checked on them today and
counted about 50 plus Field
Sparrows. Remember to not leave the road and step towards the reservoir,
the local constable treats the reservoir like a top secret military base.
Also in a side note, I tried for the Munoz's Black-chinned Hummingbird in
South Charlotte Sunday and no luck. It was not seen Sunday or Monday. The
Saturday night temperatures may have been to much. Mrs. Munoz said it was
very active on Saturday, perhaps it moved on.
Good Birding,
Stephen Harris
