C'Birders:
Me again, just can't shut up.
In an earlier message I mentioned the
"bander", and of course I was talking about Susan Campbell. I meant to
include the information that she and Barbara Gearhart saw the Cinnamon
teal's legs and feet and they were bandless. I regard this as another
example of a wild bird. Add this to the facts that it really wants no part
of being close to humans, sometimes is happy in a crowd, sometimes is aloof,
flies easily and extremely well, and has wonderful fresh-looking feathers,
plus I know of no place nearby that raises gamebirds, other than mallards
and Canada geese for fun; these facts make me think it is a legitimate wild
bird.
Last night was our coldest night. Had to thaw out all the hummer feeders
this AM.
Good birding,
