oriole, robins

Hi y'all,
Had a nice flock of Am. Robins around the neighborhood this afternoon.
They seemed interested primarily in the fruits of some invasive ol' English
Ivy, not bothering with any hollies. A few Cedar Waxwings and a Hermit
Thrush were right in there with 'em. A brilliant male Baltimore Oriole
showed up as well, only the 2nd ever in our yard.
A ton of White-throats, and the Chippie flock appears to be growing
daily. Still many less juncos than usual. Have mustered up a prodigious
flock of 3 Am. Goldfinches so far, and only one of them goes for the
high-priced food. The other two appear to prefer sunflower.
Watched a game of "King of the Suet Basket." A spunky Brown-headed
Nuthatch noisily fended off chickadees, titmouses, its white-breasted kin, a
Pine Warbler and a Downy Woodpecker before finally relinquishing ownership
to a Red-bellied Woodpecker. Pretty respectable showing for a critter that
weighs about a third-of-an-ounce, I thought.

Cheers,
Gary
