If you're heading out to Jordan Lake to enjoy the predicted warm weather
today, you might want to look for some nice ducks that I heard about...
On the CBC last Sunday, Doug Shadwick's party saw 4 Common Goldeneye and 1
Long-tailed Duck (Oldsquaw) from the NC Forest Resources Center on Big
Woods Road. Directions: http://www.duke.edu/~cwcook/tbg/bigwoods.html
Yesterday, Doug and others on the CHBC field trip saw about 10 Common
Goldeneye at Seaforth from the US 64 bridge. Directions:

I covered this area on the count and thought I saw some Goldeneye, but the
viewing conditions were not good enough to permit positive ID. I did see
a male Red-breasted Merg here on the count.
