Today had a first fall Baltimore Oriole pass through the yard. Nice
shade of orange.
Also saw the prettiest Grackle I've ever seen. The day was very
overcast, don't know if that attributed to the color. Head was a blue
similar to Indigo Bunting blue but just a little darker, and lots of blue in
tail, too, but not quite as bright as head, rest of body black, no purple
tones. After flipping through my books to be sure, decided it was a plain
old Common Grackle, but the first I've ever seen with that coloring, very
striking.
Also went late this afternoon to show a friend where the Commom
Goldeneyes, etc. were being seen near Seaforth, Jordan Lake, saw one pair,
and some other reg. ducks, and also some distant ducks that could have been
Scaup or Ring-necks, have been trying a 32 wide angle lens on my scope and
could have used the zoom today. So not sure at all of ID on those.
