Up to 4 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE are being seen at Santee NWR in Clarendon
County, SC.
A male CINNAMON TEAL and imm. male BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINBIRD are still being
seen at Sunset Beach, NC. Sometimes both of these birds can be seen from the
same spot ! For details call Mary McDavit at 910-579-2446.
PURPLE SANDPIPERS are reliable at just a few spots in NC. On 1-17 eleven
birds were seen at the Fort Macon bathhouse jetty. These birds may be most
reliable at low tides during the morning at the jetty.
A 1st winter GLAUCOUS GULL was at Cape Hatteras Point on 1-22.
Alligator River NWR is a good spot to look for LINCOLN'S SPARROWS in NC. From
US 64 at the refuge, turn onto Milltail RD. and proceed about 2 miles to Long
Curve Rd. Turn left onto Long Curve. Birds have been seen at this
intersection; .6 miles further down Long Curve; .8 miles; and 2.2 miles.
Thanks this week Lex Glover, Glenn Smith, John Fussell, Keith Watson, Jeff
