Mountains

Hi folks;
We are experiencing some Spring like weather, soon to depart. When leaving
for work Friday, I saw a flock of sparrow sized birds alight on a bush in
the neighbor's yard across the road. I quickly grabbed a pair of bin's and
when putting them to my eyes, they instantly departed. There must be a
conspiracy of some sort. Thought about reporting it to the NSA, but they
returned. Turned out the bush was a Privet (good for something) and the
birds were a flock of 20 or so Cedar Waxwings. All of them had yellow tail
tips (no red ones).
While driving to Clyde, I saw a Red Tailed Hawk, who did have a red tail,
and also a dark cummerbund. Must have been going to a party...
Went by Lake Junaluska, and saw a nice flock (30 or so) of Ring Necked
Ducks, and a couple of Hooded Mergansers.
Today went by Julian in Buncombe Co. and there was very little. Went on to
Osceola in Henderson Co. and saw a couple of Scaup, I presume lesser. Pied
Billed Grebes were everywhere, as were Coots in abundance.
There may be some Bonaparte's gulls at junaluska; there were last Spring,
and I saw a small graceful gull, but couldn't get a good look, as it was in
winter plumage, making it look like everybody else.
Good birding in the Mountains!
