February 26 CHBC meeting

Howdy!

I'd like to invite everyone to the Chapel Hill Bird Club meeting February 26 at 7:30. Looks like a great program. Read the announcement below!

North Carolina Important Bird Areas and Coastal Islands Sanctuaries

Walker Golder, Deputy Director of the NC Audubon State Office, will talk about his work with instituting and leading the NC Important Bird Areas, areas that seek to designate and protect the state's most vital bird habitats. Walker grew up exploring the NC coast, and developed an interest in colonial waterbirds as a student of Dr. James Parnell. He served as Warden for Audubon's Battery Island Sancturary and was named Audubon's first manager of the newly-created NC Coastal Islands Sanctuary program, where the system has grown to 21 locations. Walker has received national recognition for his work, so we are delighted to have him share his knowledge and love of NC birds.

Refreshments are at 7:15 pm; the meeting starts at 7:30 pm at Binkley Baptist Church on Willow Drive at 15-501 in Chapel Hill, near University Mall.

Look forward to seeing you there!!

Happy birding, Karen Bearden
