Swifts and Chimneys

Four people responded to me directly regarding my questions about Chimney
Swifts. Three were sceptical that swifts would nest in chimneys lined with
masonry flue liners instead of firebrick, but one person said she'd had
swifts nest and her chimney had flue liners. All four said swifts would
enter a chimney inspite of a cap, assuming there was an opening on the side
(one person said his cap has a 2" gap all around the sides). So we're hoping
to attract swifts.

Also, John Connors sent the following: "There is a North American Chimney
Swift Nest Site Research Project
working out of Austin, Texas. It is associated with the Driftwood Wildlife
Association and can be reached through e-mail at: dwa@concentric.net."
