Last night a pair of Great Horned Owls hooted back and forth for more than
an hour not 50 yards from my house. This morning a pair of Red-shouldered
Hawks screamed and flashed in and out of sight above the trees that surround
my clearing. Day length is increasing; courtship is in air. Though February
lies ahead, I smell spring!
