Yesterday (16 Feb) was pretty good in our neighborhood. On Hardwick Road,
Horry County SC, notables included:
Horned Larks - 2 or 4
American Pipits - 24 or so (wouldn't have found them if they hadn't flown)
Vesper Sparrows - 4
Lots of "regulars"
This morning we took the "big square" off of Hardwick Road. The only
notables there were a pair of Common Ground Doves in their more-or-less
usual location.
Barbara was surprised to find a freshly discarded Mourning Dove egg shell
in the front yard. It's cut nicely in half (as opposed to having been
predated). We were thinking it's a bit early for nesting. Comments?
Good birding,
St.
