Friday (3/22) I had a chance to bird at the Goldsboro Wastewater Treatment
Plant in Goldsboro, NC. The biggest highlight was an Eared Grebe. Other
birds included hundreds of shovelers, large numbers of Ruddy Ducks, 8
Ring-necked Ducks, 2 Mallards, 15 Least Sandpipers, lots of coots, a few
Ring-billed Gulls, 1 cormorant, a very cooperative Hermit Thrush sunning
itself (it had its wings drooped enough that I could see some rusty in its
secondaries), and, in the fields behind the ponds, some pipits.
