Re: goldfinch songfest



There was a similar convention held at Reedy Creek Park in Charlotte
yesterday morning. Rob Bierregaard and I noticed the incessant chatter and
additionally that some birds were having a pretty serious disagreement about
something. My guess is that they are pairing up and preparing to go off and
establish territories. 

Other birds of note at Reedy yesterday were Northern Parula, Lousiana
Waterthrush, and Blue-gray Gnatcatcher. Other folks probably have better
records date-wise of returning neotropical species, so just how "early" are
some of these species, several of which have been mentioned as being seen by
others?
