The following are highlights of the 3 hour Wednesday birdwalk at Charleston
County's Caw Caw Park on US 17 south in Ravenel, SC led by Perry Nugent at
8:30 am. A small fee is charged. For more information about these walks,
type www.ccprc.com on your computer.
February 19, 2003
51 species were seen and/or heard on a cool turning nice day. The most
interesting were; 2 female Ring-necked Ducks, 1 adult Bald Eagle near nest,
1 Northern Harrier, 5 Red-shouldered Hawks, 1 Red-tailed Hawk, 1 Great
Horned Owl on nest, 3 Pileated Woodpeckers, 2 Purple Martins, 1 Brown
Creeper, 6 Hermit Thrushes, 1 Loggerhead Shrike, 1 White-eyed Vireo, 2
Blue-headed Vireos, 1 first year Nashville Warbler, and 2 Pine Warblers.
