CarolinaBirders,

I found another dead alcid, a razorbill this time, along the beach at
Rodanthe. We are fast approaching a dozen dovekies, razorbills, and a murre
that I know of which have been found dead this winter. I have had several
necropsied, and oil was found internally. Other oiled birds have been found
all along the East coast from New Jersey south, as well as several dolphin.

There is apparently a large spill somewhere to our east which is affecting a
variety of wildlife. I urge all of you who should find any such birds to
contact the Seabird Ecological Assessment Network at Tufts.edu/vet/seanet.
They are focused on caring for problems in the Northeast but are interested
in our findings.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

[Message forwarded after removing html junk. Sorry, html-formatted messages aren't allowed on
Carolinabirds since they're a good way to spread viruses and mess up the archives. All messages must be
in plain text. AOL makes it difficult to send a plain text e-mail message, but here are some instructions:

If you can't figure that out, it's easier to set up a free account elsewhere
(such as yahoo.com or care2.com) and use that to send messages.
