Do Seagulls raid song bird nests?

This a.m. I watched a lone laughing gull circle the top of two trees at the Myrtle Beach Post Office. Did this for the longest time and each time it got too close, the mockingbirds would come out and chase it. Now I know for a fact there are a couple of nests in these trees and I have to think that they have hatched in the last couple of weeks. Would a seagull attack and eat the baby birds and has anyone ever see this?
