RE: 15 Swallow-tailed Kites in Allendale Co., SC

Thanks for the post Robin!!!!!

This morning(2Aug03) at 10:30, Mary and I arrived at the pasture described by Robin Carter (SSR19, not more than 100 yds south of Revolutionary Trail (SSR47), SC Delorme pg 52, G-4 by the golf course symbol and at the paved pulloff) and were treated to a show of 15 Swallow-tailed Kites sometimes not more than 50yds away. We watched for 15 minutes until they drifted northeast over the corn field and toward Allendale.

We then headed south and saw and heard several Bachman's Sparrows along SSR 41 between Hwy 3 and SSR 49 ( SC DeLorme 61, C-9&10).

We have been trying for these two birds for quite sometime. And now to see then both within the same hour. Very nice! :)

All the best birding.
