Stilt Sandpiper question

The last couple of days I've seen a sandpiper that would by all indications appear to be a Stilt Sandpiper except that it appears to be larger than a Pectoral. This is contradictory to size ranges as given in the Sibley guide. It definitely walks more "upright" unless foraging. The bill length and the fact that the bill is curved suggest Stilt. The body is slender relative to that of Dowitchers and the length of the bill appears much shorter than that of a Dowitcher.
