Conway, SC birding



Hi Carolinabirders,
Yesterday, Aug. 29 I birded New Road and the Conway Sewage Ponds in the
city of Conway, Horry County, SC
from 7:40 to 12 Noon.  A disappointing 27 species. The butterflying was
better.

Great Egret-1
Little Blue Heron-1 immature
Mallard-3
Red-shouldered Hawk-1
Killdeer-6
Solitary Sandpiper-2 both juveniles
Spotted Sandpiper-4 at least 2 were juveniles
Western Sandpiper-10 liked like adults at least one in faded breeding
plumage, every time they flew they vocalized a long jeeeep or jeeeeb
Least Sandpiper-17 the upper parts warm brown tones associated with this
species, legs caked with mud but you could usually detect yellowish
tones above the intertarsal joint.
Mourning Dove-1
Yellow-billed Cuckoo-1 heard only
Chimney Swift-30 maybe part of the flock that use the chimney at Gary's
house
Red-headed Woodpecker-1 heard only
Red-bellied Woodpecker-2
Downy Woodpecker-1
Pileated Woodpecker-1
Great Crested Woodpecker-1 heard only
Fish Crow-2
Carolina Chickadee-2
Tufted Titmouse-3
Carolina Wren-3 heard only
N. Mockingbird-2
Am. Redstart-1 heard only
Common Yellowthroat-1 heard only
Summer Tanager-1 heard only
