General Instruments and Scientific-Atlanta said they settled patent litigation between them, agreeing to dismiss the lawsuits and reach a cross licensing agreement. The patents at issue involve the scrambling of cable and satellite television signals and pay-per-view technology. Terms weren't disclosed. The suits to be dismissed under the settlement were filed in federal courts in Newark, NJ, Baltimore and San Diego.
