Here's a posting from someone at Data General, about their lawsuit against IBM. Greg Aharonian Internet Patent News Service ==================== DATA GENERAL FILES PATENT INFRINGEMENT SUIT AGAINST IBM WESTBORO, Mass., Nov. 7, 1994 -- Data General Corporation said today it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against IBM Corporation in the U.S. Federal District Court in Boston. Data General's complaint claims patent infringement by IBM of seven of Data General's U.S. patents covering several areas of computer technology. The suit seeks, among other relief, compensatory damages against IBM products, including the AS/400 midrange systems and the System/390 mainframe line, both of which are named in the suit. Data General said that the seven patents were among more than 50 issued on central processor and memory technology as the result of a major computer design effort known as the Fountainhead Project, which was in progress in the late 1970's. The project was designed to develop an advanced 32-bit minicomputer system that would provide mainframe computer capability. ### -- For those of you who want to see the patents, here are the numbers: 4,455,602 DIGITAL DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM This is the master disclosure and is incorporated by reference in the other patents.
