OF THE TWENTIETH CONGRESS.

COMMUNICATED TO THE SENATE, MAY 23, 1828.

Navy Department, May 22, 1828. Sir: In answer to the resolution of the Senate, of this date, the Secretary of the Navy has the honor "to lay before the Senate" the enclosed paper, A, which contains "a statement of the number and names of the midshipmen appointed since the commencement of the present session of Congress, together with a statement showing the particular State to which each appointment has been charged." The number appointed is ninety-four.
