It's important to understand just how the experience of being a mod changes you. The moment modhood is bestowed upon you, you begin to percieve the world in a new light. The sun shines brighter, the air smells cleaner, and if you pause to meditate for a moment you can feel your newly granted abilities integrating themselves with the gentle ebb and flow of the natural world. You are no longer predator nor prey, but rather a custodian granted a sacred trust, moving quietly through life and working to ensure that all is right with the world. Within a week of attaining modhood the ghost of Peter Parker's dear, departed Uncle Ben will come to you in your dreams and explain to you that with great power comes great responsibility. Upon waking, you may find yourself crying, but these are not tears of loss. No, instead it's an expression of the inate, fatherly love Uncle Ben feels for you, and afterwards your soul will feel truly cleansed. I should also note that these tears are of an entirely masculine nature and will cause you no shame. This is true even if you happen to be a woman. As you move among the lesser mortals of the world, you'll realize that they are drawn to your power as a sunflower turns towards the sun. Even the most trivial of interactions will become a life-changing event for these men and women, a defining experience that they will reflect upon for the rest of their lives as they strive to better themselves and live up to your example. Likewise, the animal kingdom will acknowledge you as one of their own, pausing in hope that you may deliver a sermon before moving about your business. You will not actively realize your bond with the beasts of the earth but will find yourself occasionally handing out entire loaves of bread to the birds in the park, who will repay the favor by flying around you in beautiful, intricate formations. This is natural and is nothing to be concerned about. I should also take a moment to explain that both men and women will be drawn to your aura of power and authority for more, shall we say, carnal reasons. You may even find that you have attracted a small pack of hopefuls who will follow you as if you were the Pied Piper equivalent of Barry White. Be gentle with them, but do not fear to deny them what they truly seek. Just make sure that you pace yourself, as being a moderator is a tiring business and you'll need to get a good night's sleep at least once a week in order to do your best. As the years go by, you will become accustomed to your place in the world, weilding your power in the manner of a benevolent and all-powerful priest-king, revered as a god among your people and treating them as a shephard treats their flock. However, though you use your abilities - always for good and not evil - on a daily basis, the thrill and wonder of the experience will never fade, and each time will truly be like that first glorious moment when the power flows through you, like a song, like a symphony, like nothing you've felt before yet will revel in again and again and again. In the twilight years of your life - approximately 200 years from now, as being a moderator bestows increased longevity - you will look back on your achievements with pride, the sort of paternal pride one feels for children who have grown tall and strong under your care. Younger moderators, humbled by your wisdom and experience, will come to you for advice but will then stay by your side, listening enraptured as you spin tales of days gone by, sharing your triumphs - but not your sorrows, for you will have none. When at last you leave this plane of existence the whole world will mourn. Dressed in the pure white robes of their profession, other moderators will carry you to the top of Mount Everest where your funereal pyre will burn like a second star for 23 days and nights. World leaders will attend the wake, which will be transmitted by every possible broadcasting medium as the world sits watching and reflecting on what a precious gift you were to humanity. As for yourself, you will take a moment to say goodbye to the world that you so loved before transcending this reality and achieving nirvana. Uncle Ben will be waiting for you, smiling gently. Truly, to be a moderator is the pinacle of human achievement. At least, that's what I've been told. FnordChan
